The opening of the 59th Venice Biennale of contemporary art took place the other day. In honor of this event Dior House organized gala night at the opera theatre La Fenice, which was attended by Letizia Casta, Catherine Deneuve, Beatriz Borromeo, Rosamund Pike, Maya Hawke, Camille Cotten, Bianca Brandolini D’Adda and others.
The evening had a charitable purpose, with donations from the event going towards the restoration of the Palazzo Cà d’Oro on the Grand Canal. The evening was held in partnership with the Venetian Heritage Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to preserving Venice’s historic monuments. It is headed by architect Peter Marin who designed many Dior boutiques.
This year Dior is sponsoring the biennale which runs until November 27th. Its distinguishing feature is the participation of a large number of women artists. For example, Bianca Pucciarelli Menna, who collaborated with Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri on the autumn-winter 2019 collection.
