Seville hosted a Dior cruise show – it was a combination of heritage and ingenuity, according to the house’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. The show took place in the city’s main square and the models showed outfits inspired by Spanish fairs, flamenco and before the equestrian tradition. The muse for this collection was La Capitana – Carmen Amaya, a revolutionary and passionate flamenco dancer.
Not only the brand’s team led by Maria Grazia worked on the collection, but also local artisans, who also work with the Catholic Church. Ceremonial embroidery, flat hats, Andalusian leather for riding, roses and lace were the main motifs. And to the belt of some models passing through the square was attached a traditional Spanish accessory – a fan made of the finest lace. They were made on commission by Dior in the historic workshop Abanicos Carbonell, located in Valencia.
Guests of the Dior cruise show in Seville included 1990s supermodel Elle Macpherson with her 18-year-old son named Cy, Leticia Casta, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith’s daughter Stella del Carmen Banderas Griffith, French actresses Jeanne Damas and Mathilde Varnier, Influencer Chiara Ferragni, Spanish actress and star of series “Paper House” and “Elita” Maria Pedraza.
