The famous Met Gala, which will take place on May 1, has announced this year’s co-chairs. They will be actresses Penelope Cruz and Michaela Coel, tennis player Roger Federer and singer Dua Lipa.
The 2023 event will be dedicated to the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: a line of beauty”. Penelope Cruz was the muse of the legendary designer for several years and starred in Chanel ad campaigns.
Also on May 5, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will host a major exhibition devoted to Karl Lagerfeld. The exhibition is traditionally titled the same as the theme of the ball, “Karl Lagerfeld: a line of beauty”.
It is known that the Met Gala will feature three Chanel 1995 dresses from the museum’s archives. However, it is not yet known which star will showcase them. A total of 150 pieces created by the designer for various brands will be on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
