Sabato De Sarno has officially been appointed creative director of Gucci. The Naples-born designer began his career at Prada, then moved to Dolce & Gabbana and eventually joined Valentino as fashion director, working alongside Pierpaolo Piccioli.
On the appointment, Gucci president and CEO Marco Bizzarri said: “I am delighted that Sabato will be joining Gucci as the new creative director of the House, which is one of the most influential roles in the luxury industry. Having worked with some of Italy’s most famous luxury fashion houses, he brings with him a vast and relevant experience.”
De Sarno for his part adds: “I am honoured to accept the position of creative director of Gucci. I am proud to join a House with such an extraordinary history and heritage, which over the years has embraced and nurtured the values I believe in.”
Sabato De Sarno will be presenting his debut collection at Milan Fashion Week this September.
