Naomi Campbell has starred in a new advert for fashion house Fendi. This isn’t the first time the supermodel has been the face of the iconic Peekaboo bag – not only does she reflect the iconic piece’s ‘character’ based on ambition, independence and self-sufficiency, but she has been friends for years with couture and womenswear designer Kim Jones and accessories and menswear artistic director Silvia Venturini-Fendi. Fashion photographer David Sims was responsible for Naomi’s cinematic colour and black and white shots this time around.
Naomi showed off several Peekaboo models in different sizes and a few basic colours, including white, beige and black. The supermodel herself appeared in the photo with straight hair in strict monochrome looks that didn’t distract from the bag. Naomi’s makeup was also done in natural tones.
The geometric and minimalist Peekaboo bag by Fendi was launched in 2008. Since then, it has become a hallmark of Roman craftsmanship. The design, created by Silvia Venturini-Fendi and presented at the FENDI Spring-Summer 2009 womenswear collection, has created a sensation, born of a desire to reinterpret contemporary accessories in the years of the somewhat lingering “it-bag” trend.
