The 40th anniversary ceremony of the annual MTV Video Music Awards took place in New Jersey on 12 September. One of the main music events of the year was attended by the main stars of the industry: Selena Gomez, Shakira, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, Italian rockers Måneskin and other selebrities.
Shakira, who picked up statuettes in the Generation Recognition and Best Collaboration categories for her “TQG” collaboration with Karol G, appeared at the event in two different outfits: a sky-blue asymmetrical dress embellished with large pins and a ringlet-effect mini dress by Atelier Versace. Selena Gomez tried on a bold look in scarlet, a beaded embroidered gown from Oscar de la Renta. Taylor Swift, who won in eight nominations and triumphed at the awards, chose a black Atelier Versace dress for the event, decorated with gold fittings with the brand’s signature logo.
Rock quartet Måneskin chose similar black outfits from Rick Owens and won the Best Rock Video category for their music video for the song “THE LONELIEST”. The singer of the hit song “Drivers Licence” Olivia Rodrigo wore a silver sparkling dress created by Ludovic de Saint Sernin and hip-hop star Cardi B wore a Dilara Findikoglu dress handmade from thousands of hairpins.
