Vogue magazine has unveiled the cover of the new issue. The main characters of the issue are Leonardo DiCaprio and his colleague in the film “Killers of the Flower Moon” by Martin Scorsese Lily Gladstone. The actors also starred for the cover story, spoke to the publication’s journalists and revealed some details of the upcoming historical drama. The author of the photos was the famous fashion photographer Craig McDean.
The shoot was styled by former British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful. He styled the images for Lily and Leo with clothes from Chloe, Christopher John Rogers, Brunello Cucinelli and Gabriela Hearst. In the interview, the Oscar winner noted the high-class performance of 37-year-old Lily Gladstone. The girl is a Native American who grew up on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.
“Lily in this film is simply amazing. She carries the whole film and the whole story,” DiCaprio said.
DiCaprio said that Martin Scorsese immediately decided on the role of Lily. Before filming began, the director, along with Leonardo, did a little online casting on Zoom.
“Marty just instinctively realised that Lily was the one. There was a truthfulness in her eyes that he saw even through the computer screen. I’ve never seen Scorsese notice someone and immediately feel such an instinctive attraction,” the actor shared his emotions.
Lily considers herself an atypical actress for Hollywood. She believes that her opportunities are limited because of her background. However, over the years of career Gladstone managed to appear in several successful projects.
“I was living at home with my parents. I thought I didn’t want to move to Los Angeles because I’m an atypical actor. I think it would be hard for me to find a place if I went that route,” Lily recalled.
Before Martin Scorsese’s call with the offer of a role, the actress was thinking of giving up her acting career altogether. The film “Killers of the Flower Moon”, which was received with applause at the Cannes Film Festival, will be released next month.
