33-year-old film actress Emma Watson hasn’t appeared on screens in a while. Her last film role was in 2019 in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. After that, Watson focused her attention on social activism and running a business with her sibling. However, in her opinion, she has not abandoned her profession, as she revealed in a recent interview.
“I don’t think I’ve given up acting,” Watson told British Vogue. – “I just want to broaden the scope of what I do and still be able to be in films. It could be things I’ve written or produced.”
Emma explained that writing and directing “has been really amazing” and she started exploring different professions during the pandemic.
“I’ve just realised how much I love it and that I want to keep doing it,” she added. – “And that’s why I’m learning now too.”
Watson made her directorial debut in 2022 with a short film that was an ad campaign for the Prada Paradoxe fragrance. According to the actress, the next step for her is to star in something she wrote herself.
“Someday I’m going to direct something I’ve written, and I’m really excited about that.”
However, Watson doesn’t expect to return to the film screen right away.
“It takes time to really be on a big project,” she emphasised. – “Films can take decades to create, they have to be found, written and put together. I don’t see the hiatus as an end. I see it as the beginning of a new path.”
Recall that Watson is now focused on releasing a self-made gin called Renais with her brother Alex Watson, as well as activism for gender equality and environmentalism. The film actress previously spoke about how she “felt a bit caged” when she took a break from acting in 2019.
“I wasn’t very happy, to be honest,” she admitted in April 2023. – “It was very difficult for me as I had to represent other people’s projects that I had little to do with.”
Despite the fact that Watson does not appear on screen now, she occasionally allows herself social outings.
