Actor Timothee Chalamet, 28, earned critical acclaim for his role as well as his vocal and dancing abilities in the film Wonka. The work also earned him a Golden Globe nomination. The box office success of “Wonka” and “Dune: Part Two” unlocked the potential of the actor, who is now ranked alongside stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise.
“I can’t think of any other actor on the planet who could play Willy Wonka and achieve such success. You need all the talent at once to work in today’s world. Intellectual property alone is not enough,” said Josh Goldstein, president of worldwide marketing for Warner Bros. which promoted “Dune” and “Wonka.
According to a Variety report, the actor received a whopping $8 million for his role in “Wonka,” but his growing success, experts say, will lead to a “pay raise.” Timothee played the world-famous chocolatier in the prequel film released in December 2023, which grossed more than $600 million at the worldwide box office. He repeated the success a few months later in another box office hit, “Dune: Part Two.” Warner Bros. does not yet have a contract for the third instalment of “Dune”, but director Denis Villeneuve has openly stated his desire to direct it, so Timothee’s salary could rise even more.
