Just a few days ago, it was reported that Adidas was recalling a new retro SL72 trainer ad campaign for the 1972 Munich Olympics, which were overshadowed by the massacre of Israeli athletes. As another military conflict erupted in the Middle East in the autumn, sources say the cancellation of the campaign is linked to the pro-Palestinian views of 27-year-old model Bella Hadid, who was to be its face. Her participation, according to the company, could have caused a negative reaction from Israeli customers.
And now it is reported that amid the scandal, Hadid has hired a whole team of lawyers to help her seek compensation from Adidas. The model cites the brand’s refusal to accept responsibility.
Notably, Bella’s contract with Adidas is still in force. The brand has already apologised and announced plans to revise the content of the commercial. Informants tabloid TMZ reported that the model was initially extremely concerned that Adidas would release a campaign based on the tragic events of the Munich Massacre, as ‘violence is completely inconsistent with her worldview.’
Recall that over the past year, Hadid has been intensively treated for Lyme disease. However, she did not return to the catwalks for long: having started to support Palestine, Bella lost many favourable contracts.
