Grammy winner Miley Cyrus took the stage at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on Sunday, August 11, to receive a prestigious award from Disney, the company that made her famous after her starring role in the “Hannah Montana” series.
The artiste was among 14 other recipients, but also became the youngest celebrity in history to be honoured as a Disney Legend. Miley was supported by her mum Tish and sister Brandi at the award ceremony. While accepting the award, Miley recalled the beginning of her career and wept:
“I’m going to let everyone in on a little secret about being a Disney legend. I’m the one who’s going to tell you what you’re not supposed to know. And I want to tell you that legends are scared too. I’m really scared right now, but the difference is that we still fight fear, and all of you can do it every single day. To be afraid and still do it is legendary. When you try, there can be no failure.”
Miley also emphasised the legendary nature of “Hannah Montana” and the project’s importance to pop culture.
“I’m still proud to have been Hannah Montana. This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her wonderful, loyal fans and everyone who made my dream come true.”
