Liam and Noel Gallagher have confirmed the long-awaited comeback of their legendary band Oasis. After much rumour and speculation, the Gallagher brothers have revealed that Oasis are set to reunite and embark on a world tour in 2025. The Manchester-based band, who split up nearly 15 years ago and released the chart-topping album ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30 years ago, have announced that the series of shows will kick off at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The UK and Ireland tour will take over venues such as Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and Dublin’s Croke Park in July and August next year. Tickets for the UK dates will go on sale from 9am on Saturday 31 August, while tickets for the Dublin shows will be available from 8am the same day. The band also have plans for shows outside of Europe. Confirming the Oasis tour, the brothers said they are happy to announce a truce and tell fans the long-awaited news.
“The battle is over. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come and watch. It won’t be televised,” brothers Liam and Noel wrote on social media.
Noel left the band in August 2009, stating that he ‘just couldn’t work with Liam a day longer’. The reason for their break-up is believed to have been a disagreement during the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. The Manchester-based band, formed in 1991, quickly became one of the biggest cultural phenomena of the 90s and noughties era. Their honours include six BRIT Awards, including one for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, two Ivor Novellos and seventeen NME Awards. Since their break-up, Noel and Liam have enjoyed successful solo careers, with Liam performing as a singer-songwriter and Noel performing with his band High Flying Birds.
