Phillip Lim is officially stepping down as creative director of 3.1 Phillip Lim. In a joint statement, Lim and the brand’s co-founder and CEO Wen Zhou announced the end of their collaboration.
‘It is with great respect and gratitude for each other and our long partnership that we have decided to part ways as the brand moves into a new stage of development. We are very proud of what we have built and the strength of the genuine community that has developed around the brand. Our shared vision and hard work have allowed us to remain independent and excel in an ever-changing and challenging industry,’ WWD reports.
In the statement, they also noted the importance of the brand’s influence on fashion for 20 years.
‘From the beginning, our goal was to create something meaningful, and along the way we realised that we could also inspire others to make positive change, champion creativity, and show responsibility. We are incredibly proud of the impact we have made over the past 20 years, and for that we will be forever grateful. This moment marks a natural turnaround for both of us, we each have new goals and different visions for the future.’
Wen will remain CEO and sole owner of 3.1 Phillip Lim, while Phillip will take on new endeavours.
‘Although our partnership is coming to an end, the brand remains in good hands and we are confident it will continue to thrive,’ Wen concluded.
It is currently unknown how 3.1 Phillip Lim will evolve after Lim’s departure. Phillip’s show at New York Fashion Week in September, which showcased the 2025 spring/summer collection to mark the brand’s 20th anniversary, was his last work for 3.1 Phillip Lim.
