A documentary called Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, which was filmed during the first year of the Homewards initiative to help homeless people, will be released later this month. The two-part film will be broadcast on 30 and 31 October at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, STV and STV Player. In the teasers, William revealed that eradicating homelessness has become his mission. However, journalists have questioned William regarding critics who question whether he is the right person to lead the project in six communities across the UK.
“There will be people who may question whether you are up to this challenging project. How would you respond to that?” – a reporter asked.
“I think everyone has a right to a safe and permanent home and this benefits us all. I have no goals other than desperately trying to help people in need. And I see that as part of my role. Why else would I be here if I didn’t use my position properly to influence and help people where I can?” – replied Prince William.
This charity campaign is a major long-term focus for William. He told how visiting orphanages with his mother Diana as a child left a deep and lasting impression on him and inspired his work. At last week’s Centrepoint awards ceremony, he appeared on stage as a patron of the charity to encourage people who care about him to join a movement to help eradicate homelessness in the UK.
The prince is currently spending time with his wife Princess of Wales and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who have started their autumn holidays. The family usually relax at their country house in Norfolk during the school holidays, and William admitted he spent time watching the Champions League match on Tuesday, 22 October. The prince is also preparing to travel to the upcoming Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town, South Africa. And earlier this month, William visited Southport with Kate to support the families of those killed in the tragic attack on a children’s centre in July.
