Christie’s announced that the charity auction We Are All Beirut, through the support of generous donors and buyers alike, raised in excess of half a million pounds towards the rebuilding of the Beirut art community and the Lebanese Red Cross in the wake of the explosion that took place in Beirut on  4th of August.

The funds raised are from the full proceeds of the sales as well as 50% of the Buyer’s Premium.  Said funds will be entrusted to The Arab Funds for Arts and Culture (AFAC) to support the arts and culture community in Beirut including the Sursock Museum, as well as  proceeds of a selection of works consigned by Arthaus Beirut will be donated to the Lebanese Red Cross and a group of Lebanese artists.

Caroline Louca-Kirkland, Managing Director at Christie’s Middle East commented: “We have taken great hope in the solidarity shown in supporting the Beirut’s arts community through We Are All Beirut.  The response regionally and internationally has been humbling.  The funds entrusted to AFAC and the Red Cross give us the confidence that these contributions will trickle into the cultural ecosystem that includes museums, art centers, galleries, studios and many more. From Christie‘s we express our deep appreciation to all who have come together to benefit this necessary cause.  Thank you very much.”
