The year 2021 has been a very successful one for Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The actress, film producer, activist and best-selling author has just added a global ambassador for Bulgari to her list of accomplishments. Inspiring millions of women around the world, she continues to advocate for diversity, inclusion and women’s empowerment in her new role at the Rome-based jewelry house.

Known for her humanitarian work, at the top of her list of accomplishments as a global ambassador is raising funds to assist victims of the Covid-19 disaster in India. Partnering with Give India, a non-profit organization to support the country’s health care structure, Bulgari announced that she will also make a donation. Her advice to those who want to follow in her philanthropic footsteps is to make time. “A lot of people have the best of intentions, but giving of time is more important than anything else, more important than money,” she says. Another connection to her homeland, and one that makes working with Bulgari even more meaningful, is the brand’s historic ties to India. The company sources many of its gemstones from the region, as well as collaborating with local artisans and jewelers.

Chopra Jonas joining the roster of leading ladies, including Julianne Moore, Zendaya and Lisa of South Korea’s Blackpink, shows Bulgari’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The Jannah Collaboration, run by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Hazzah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, demonstrates the beautiful result of two cultures colliding. Meaning “paradise,” the pieces are decorated with the five-petalled Jannah flower, which can be seen in the decor of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

When it comes to women’s empowerment, Chopra Jonas believes it’s happening all around us. “It’s in every home when you look at your daughter or sister or mother,” she says. For her, the point of empowerment is freedom.

To help herself feel strong, Chopra Jonas has a secret weapon: “I remind myself of my strengths. I remind myself of my victories. When I think about it and remind myself of what I bring to life, I regain my confidence, I can take on the world.”

A longtime jewelry enthusiast, Chopra Jonas considers herself a collector. “I think jewelry is about self-expression,” Chopra Jonas says. “It’s what you want the room you walk into to feel when you put them on. There are days when you want to feel fragile and delicate. There are days when you want to feel luxurious and majestic. So I choose jewelry depending on how I feel on that day.”

A fan of the Serpenti collection, which already includes bracelets and rings, she is now eyeing a necklace. “I’m dying to wear one that can be shaped. It’s almost like a wrap, and I’m trying to match a dress to it,” she says. No doubt this will be a telling moment on any upcoming red carpet appearance by Chopra Jonas.
