A week ago Monaco hosted a Chanel cruise collection show, and now on the other side of the ocean the Louis Vuitton brand showed its creations in the same format. The house’s creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière, seems to have been inspired by Star Wars and created many futuristic looks in metallic fabrics with hypertrophied broad shoulders.

This time there were no first-tier models on the catwalk – Hadid, Jenner and so on – but many recognised Sasha Pivovarova and Lauren Wasser. The latter appeared on the cover of the latest issue of French Elle and told her story. A few years ago, the girl lost both her legs to toxic shock syndrome. Now she still works as a model, but with prostheses.

Dozens of celebrity guests and brand ambassadors, including Miranda Kerr, Lea Seydoux, Chloë Grace Moretz, Emma Roberts, Gemma Chan, Steve Jobs’ daughter Eve, Anna Wintour and others, attended the fashion show, which was held at the Solk Institute of Biological Research in San Diego, California. Spotted in the front row were newlyweds Billie Lourdes, actress and daughter of Carrie Fisher, and Austin Rydell.
