Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana had a big celebration as Dolce & Gabbana celebrated the tenth anniversary of their haute couture line Alta Moda. The designers returned to the island of Sicily for this occasion, where the first show of the line took place.

Four days of festivities in Sicily included a concert in a 5th century BC Greek theatre, dinner at a beach club topped off with fireworks and a dance party under the coastal luminaria, with guests wearing different Alta Moda outfits at each of them. And on Saturday in the historic Piazza del Duomo in Ortigia, the designers kicked off their 10th anniversary Alta Moda show with a rendition of Cavalliera Rusticana, a one-act opera by Pietro Mascagni about a pair of love triangles.

In Piazza del Duomo, the scene was recreated for the Easter Sunday procession from Pietro Mascagni’s “L’Honneur Rural”. The models, including celebrity heiresses Deva Cassel and Leni Klum, showed dresses that resembled ancient statues. There were lace and corsets, voluminous silhouettes and colourful baroque prints.

The only thing that could compete with what was happening on the catwalk was the guest list, which looked more like an Oscar or Grammy Awards guest list. The designers called in the Hollywood heavy artillery in the form of Mariah Carey, Helen Mirren, Ciara, who appeared at the show with her entire family – footballer spouse Russell Wilson and three children, Monica Bellucci, Sharon Stone and Drew Barrymore. Also attending the show were Christian Bale and family, Heidi Klum, Emma Roberts, Lupita Nyong’o, Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble, Kobe Bryant’s widow and daughter and others.
