Recently a new advertising campaign of the Italian shoe brand Aquazurra was launched, the face of which became the 26-year-old Princess Maria Olympia of Greece. Many did not appreciate the choice of the brand, because its main fan is Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and it would be logical to make her the face of the new advertising. However, despite the fact that Meghan wears shoes exclusively of this brand, marketers still chose another candidate.

Aquazurra representatives justified their decision to invite Maria-Olimpia by the fact that she is a fashion influencer and “an example of that modern girl, who wears Aquazurra”. Fans of Meghan, on the other hand, believe that the Duchess was not taken into the advertising campaign because of the scandal with the brand’s pumps, which she, before she met Prince Harry, allegedly did not return after shooting for the Canadian department store chain.

Princess Maria Olympia, on the other hand, is not new to the fashion business. She regularly appears at fashion weeks, showcasing trendy looks that invariably appear on the pages of glossy publications. A couple of years ago she interned at Dior as a stylist for several ad campaigns. Later, she repeated the same experience with Dolce & Gabbana. And now she’s taken on the role of a model – who knows, perhaps another bright star will pop up on the fashion scene.

Maria Olympia is the eldest daughter of Greek Prince Paul and Crown Princess Maria Chantal of Greece. Her paternal grandfather was King Constantine II, who was the last ruler before the fall of the Greek monarchy in 1973.
