Angelina Jolie personally attended an important event featuring her eldest daughter, Zahara, over the weekend. The 20-year-old, who is currently a sophomore at Spelman College, took the stage on Saturday, March 1, at a Mother-Daughter Brunch held at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama. Zahara delivered a speech focused on women’s health, while Jolie, dressed in a white gown, sat in the audience, proudly supporting her daughter.

“It is a great honor to have Zahara Jolie-Pitt speak at the fourth annual Mother-Daughter Brunch and share her mission within the Women in Training community,” said Adeyela Bennett, president of the organization, in an interview with WAKA 8 Action News. “We are also thrilled that her world-renowned mother, actress Angelina Jolie, will join us to support her daughter and our goal of ensuring every girl and young woman has access to the resources needed to live a full and healthy life.”

Zahara, who wore an elegant white dress, white heels, and gold jewelry for the occasion, is following in her mother’s footsteps as an advocate for underprivileged women. She has been actively involved in programs addressing maternal mortality and providing hygiene products to women living in poverty.

Jolie, who adopted Zahara from Ethiopia in 2005—just seven months after her birth—has often expressed her pride in her daughter. During a 2020 appearance on TIME 100 Talks, Jolie shared her admiration for Zahara and her efforts.

“My daughter is from Ethiopia, and she is one of my children. I have learned so much from her,” Jolie said. “She is an extraordinary African woman, and her connection to her country and her continent is something I can only stand in awe of.”

The event highlighted Zahara’s growing role as a young advocate, reflecting the values instilled in her by her mother. Jolie’s presence at the brunch underscored her unwavering support for her daughter’s endeavors and their shared commitment to empowering women and girls worldwide.
