Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner recently shared a heartwarming moment with the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children after his victory at the prestigious tournament. The 23-year-old Italian tennis star, who defeated world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in the final, admitted he was initially unsure what to say when meeting the young royals.
During the encounter, Sinner spoke with Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, asking if they played tennis and what kind of rackets they used. He also gifted them signed tennis balls—two for George and Charlotte and an extra one for their younger brother, Prince Louis, who was not present at the match. Sinner expressed his gratitude toward the royal family for their support of the sport.
“It’s great to see how much they care about tennis and sports in general. It’s very prestigious. I was lucky to meet the princess and the whole family, and it was a very nice moment,” Sinner said during a press conference.
The Princess of Wales, who presented Sinner with the Wimbledon trophy after his win on Sunday, July 13, congratulated him once again before the meeting concluded. Kate Middleton’s love for tennis has clearly influenced her children—Prince George made his first Wimbledon appearance in 2022 alongside his parents, while Princess Charlotte debuted in the royal box in 2023.
