Anna Wintour has named Chloe Malle as the new head of editorial content for American Vogue, according to a report by Lauren Sherman of Puck on Monday, September 1.
In June, the 75-year-old Wintour announced she would be stepping down from her role leading the editorial department of the fashion magazine. At the time, Vogue stated it was seeking someone to “oversee the daily operations of the magazine across platforms” while reporting to Wintour. The publication clarified that the fashion legend, who has led American Vogue since 1988, will continue serving as Chief Content Officer of Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director of Vogue.

“Anyone in a creative field knows the importance of evolving in their work,” Wintour told her staff during a June meeting. “When I became editor of Vogue, I wanted to prove there was a new way to create an American fashion magazine.”
Wintour explained it would be an honor to “help the next generation of passionate editors storm this niche with their own ideas, supported by a new, exciting vision of what a major media company can be.” She emphasized that finding such a person was precisely what Vogue needed for its next editor-in-chief.

Last month, Page Six exclusively reported that Wintour was leaning toward Malle – the daughter of actress Candice Bergen and director Louis Malle – for the position.
