Julia Roberts is the proud mother of 20-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 18-year-old son Henry. Together with her longtime partner Danny Moder, whom she met on a film set in 2000, she has built a close-knit family. In an interview with 72 Magazine, the actress opened up about their parenting philosophy, describing it as notably strict during their children’s younger years.
“When they were little, Danny and I would definitely have been considered among the strictest parents,” Julia shared. “It wasn’t so much about having many rules, but we had clear expectations. We set boundaries from the beginning, and they remained consistent. A child couldn’t ask me one thing and get one answer, then go ask their dad and get a different one. That never happened.”
She emphasized that she and her husband always presented a united front when it came to decisions about the children. “I think that’s what creates the stability that allows kids to feel unconditionally safe,” the actress explained.
The “Pretty Woman” star also recalled tightly controlling her children’s access to technology when they were young. “They were among the last in their peer group to have phones and things like that,” she noted.
Roberts also shared wise words she received from her colleague George Clooney, who has eight-year-old twins Alexander and Ella with his wife Amal. “You just have to hang in there—everything changes. If you make it through their teenage years, rest assured things will always be good from there on. Being part of a family is just so wonderful,” she concluded.
