Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, 54, has an impeccable sense of style and, as it turns out, an exceptional sense of humour. The guests of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts AACTA Awards were able to make sure of it. This year Kate was not announced as a laureate, but was pleased to act as a presenter. The actress appeared on stage wearing a lush pink tinsel dress and a giant polka dot bow on her head.
“A middle-aged Barbie,” she said to laughter and applause from the audience, trying her best to keep a nonchalant expression on her face.
But Margot Robbie, who was to receive the statuette from the hands of the star, did not even try to hold back her laughter. She noted that Cate Blanchett has always been her favourite actress.
“I’ve adored her for as long as I can remember. And I adore her even more now, being on stage with her in such close proximity. It’s truly overwhelming,” Robbie said.
