At the end of 2022, 56-year-old pop diva Celine Dion announced that she was suffering from a rare, incurable condition that affects her vocal cords – stiff muscle syndrome. Since then, the star has not often appeared in public and even less often became the heroine of glossy covers. And now Celine starred for the title photo of the May issue of French Vogue and gave the publication a detailed interview, in which she told more about the diagnosis.
“I haven’t beaten the disease, it will always be with me,” Dion admitted. – I really hope that we will find a miracle drug that can cure me, but for now I have to learn to live with it.”
Celine specified that she dedicates five days a week to “sports, physical and vocal therapy.”
“I either train like an athlete and work really hard, or I switch off, stay home, listen to my songs, stand in front of the mirror and sing to myself. I want to be the best version of myself.”
Note that French Vogue came out with two covers at once – colour and black and white. On the first one the artist was pictured in a snow-white set of a loose shirt and mini-skirt, as well as black contrast tights from Calzedonia, and on the second one – in a multi-layered soft pink Alaïa dress made of wool. The shoot was styled by Lowe Roach, who works with Zendaya, and photographed by Cass Bird.
Incidentally, in the interview, Celine dropped a few words about her habit of buying designer outfits on her own, not relying on brands to donate her clothes themselves.
“I’ve always bought everything myself. I’ve never liked to borrow. People pay to come and listen to me sing and I pay to buy myself designer clothes,” she said.
In addition, the performer admitted that she is honoured to grace the cover of a globally renowned fashion publication.
“I am very proud to be asked to show my beauty in my years. Today, I am a woman who feels strong and looks to the future with confidence. Every day,” the star concluded.
