Pamela Anderson has said she moved to her native Canada from bustling Los Angeles to ‘remember who she used to be’. In a new interview, the star explained that she doesn’t want to be portrayed in images that are foreign to her. Speaking to Women’s Wear Daily, Anderson said her move to the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia was an opportunity for her to reconnect with her true self.
‘I think it was a homecoming. You could say it was my opportunity to really look at my life and remember who I really was and not who people thought I was,’ she told the publication. – ‘And I didn’t want anything that happened to me to define me. I wanted to be defined by what I’m doing now.’
This isn’t the first time Pamela Anderson has reflected on her decision to return to her roots.
‘When I came back to Canada, I didn’t feel very good,’ Anderson told Better Homes & Gardens in a September 2024 interview. – ‘I don’t know what happened over the last few decades, but now I feel so far away from the image of who I was,’ she explained. – ‘I felt very sad and lonely. I didn’t just feel misunderstood, I felt like my whole life was a bunch of mistakes. I was hard on myself and I thought I had put my family and kids through a lot of bad things. It took me a few years to get past that and think about it all.’
Anderson has two sons, Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 26, by her ex-husband Tommy Lee. Pamela noted that she spent the first few years after the move personally renovating the house for her parents, writing a lot and learning to bake. All of this culminated in her 2023 memoir, ‘With Love, Pamela,’ as well as a cookbook called ‘I Love You,’ which was published in October 2024. Anderson also continues to act in films, most recently starring in The Last Dancer, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September, and the drama will be released in wide release on 10 January.
