David Beckham, accompanied by wife Victoria, attended an important royal event – a lavish reception for Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the first of his three wives, Jawahir, who are in the country on a two-day state visit. Football star David is believed to have been invited due to his role as an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
He was seated next to Qatari businessman and president of French football club Paris Saint-Germain, Nassir Al-Khelaifi, where Beckham ended his illustrious career, ensuring they had plenty of topics of conversation during the meeting. At the event, Victoria looked stunning in a tight black dress from her own fashion brand. The singer’s dark hair was slicked back and she chose a small gold handbag as her accessory. David, meanwhile, looked elegant in a black jacket and trousers, white shirt and bow tie.
At the banquet, Victoria sat closer to the main table, with Lord Levy, former CEO of a large group of independent music companies and a long-time friend of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, on her left and Lord Ara Darzi, knighted for his services to medicine and surgery, on her right. The seating plan was organised by the Buckingham Palace department in conjunction with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which is funding the state visit. The banquet was the culmination of the Emir and the Jawahir royalty’s visit. Prior to the banquet, King Charles III and Queen Camilla joined the Emir of Qatar and his wife for a group photo on the steps of Buckingham Palace in honour of the visiting royals.
