The couple politely declined the invitation, marking the first time since 2017 that neither Kate nor William attended the event. The reason? This year’s BAFTA ceremony coincided with their children’s school holidays, prompting the family to spend some quality time together on a private getaway.
As reported by Mail on Sunday, Prince William, who serves as the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, recorded a special message for this year’s nominees, which was broadcast during the ceremony. Meanwhile, the family reportedly flew business class with British Airways to the island of St. Lucia before heading to Mustique, a private island known for its pristine white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. The island is also a no-fly zone, ensuring complete privacy for its high-profile guests.
This isn’t the first time the Wales family has chosen the Caribbean for a holiday. In 2019, the couple and their children stayed at the luxurious Villa Antilles on Mustique to celebrate Prince George’s sixth birthday. During that trip, William and Kate even shared an official photo of young Prince George enjoying their vacation.
The stunning four-bedroom Villa Antilles, owned by William’s friend Andrew Dunn, boasts a large swimming pool, a hot tub, a dedicated staff, and breathtaking views of the sea and neighboring islands Bequia and St. Vincent. During their 2019 stay, Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, also joined the family.
In 2022, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Jamaica as part of their royal Caribbean tour, where Kate expressed her desire to return with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “It’s been amazing, I’d love to stay longer,” Kate said during her two-night stay. “The scenery is stunning. We’ll definitely bring the children next time.”
