Two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger is set to join Christoph Waltz and Keegan-Michael Key as new cast members in the upcoming fifth season of the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. She will appear alongside the show’s leading trio—Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez—as well as recurring star Michael Cyril Creighton.
The official announcement playfully welcomed Zellweger with the tagline: “Welcome to the building, Renée Zellweger!”—a nod to the show’s New York setting and its central mystery theme.
Details about Zellweger’s character remain under wraps, but the fifth season will focus on solving the murder of Sazz Pataki (played by Jane Lynch), Charles-Haden Savage’s (Steve Martin) longtime stunt double. The Emmy-winning series is currently in production, with the new season expected to feature 10 episodes, consistent with previous installments.

The show was renewed for a fifth season in September 2023, following the release of its fourth season, which boasted an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Meryl Streep, Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, and Molly Shannon.
Only Murders in the Building has been a critical and awards darling, winning the Best Comedy Ensemble prize at the 2024 SAG Awards, while Martin Short took home the award for Best Male Actor in a Comedy Series.
Zellweger, who recently reprised her iconic role as Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (released February 14, 2024), continues to expand her versatile career. The Bridget Jones franchise has grossed over $850 million worldwide, proving its enduring popularity.

Fans are eagerly awaiting more details about Zellweger’s role and how she’ll fit into the quirky, murder-filled world of the Arconia. With such a stellar cast, Season 5 promises to be another must-watch chapter in the beloved series.
