Rocabella Santorini – A Hotel That Deserves Five Stars

Officially, Rocabella Santorini is rated as a four-star hotel. In reality, it’s one of the strongest four-star properties I’ve stayed at. In terms of organization, location, design, and service approach – this is clearly a hotel that deserves a full five-star rating.

Location & view

Rocabella is located in Imerovigli, between Fira and Oia – a convenient position, away from the tourist crowds, but close to key points on the island. The hotel sits right on the cliff edge, overlooking the caldera. The panoramic view is one of its strongest features: you get a full, unobstructed sunset view, either from your private room or the restaurant terrace.

Technically, it’s not Oia – but the visual experience is just as strong, if not more personal.

Rooms & design

The interiors follow the traditional Cycladic style: white walls, open space, natural light. What stands out is the attention to detail – rooms feature custom metal chairs, and tables made of wood, glass, and steel. This isn’t standard hotel furniture – it’s clearly been selected with care. The space is balanced, minimalist, and visually coherent.

Pools

The hotel offers three pools: a main pool with sea views, a second one in the relaxation area, and a smaller, more private one near the spa. Several rooms also include private plunge pools. All areas are clean and well maintained, with loungers, towels, and attentive service.

Service & Spa

The service is confident and discreet. Staff operate calmly and politely, with attention to detail but without unnecessary formality.

The spa is fully equipped – massage, wellness treatments, and relaxation zones. Everything runs smoothly by appointment, with no crowding or wait times. The level is clearly above average.

Restaurant

The on-site restaurant, Afropsaro, offers a solid Mediterranean menu. Lunch is light – fresh salads, grilled seafood, and vegetables. Dinner is more structured: carpaccio, octopus, fish. Dishes are well-executed and thoughtfully plated.

Breakfast is served on the open-air terrace. No excess – just consistently fresh, high-quality ingredients.
