Despite the fact that last year the film industry was not as active as usual (many shootings and releases were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic), fortunately we still saw several high-profile releases in 2020, including highly anticipated “Wonder Woman: 1984” with Gal Gadot in the lead role. The movie has been submitted for consideration in all categories at this year’s Oscars by Warner Bros, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Gal Gadot, Best Director for Jenkins, Best Supporting Actor for Chris Pine and Pedro Pascal, and Best Supporting Actress for Kristen Wiig, Connie Nielson and Robin Wright.
Its not the first time that comic book-based films will receive a major Oscars recognition, with Marvel’s Black Panther being the first comic book movie to get nominated for Best Picture in 2019.
