Bottega Veneta empowers regional and global creatives with The Square cultural exchange event
Bottega Veneta hosted a cultural exchange showcasing the talents of regional creatives in a three-day event filled with film screenings, musical performances, storytelling and poetry. The event took place at Concrete’s multidisciplinary art centre on Alserkal Avenue in a specially designed space by Lebanese architect Carl Gerges called The Square. Inspired by the Arabic term ‘majlis’, a symbol of unity, The Square, decorated in Bottega Green, allowed the audience to gather in a cosy recessed seating area to watch the cultural exchange.
The Square brought together Yemeni East African visual storyteller Shaima al-Tamimi, Sudanese-British spoken word poet Astma al-Badawi, Lebanese musician Samer Doumet and Canadian poet Mustafa The Poet to share their talents. Through The Square, Bottega Veneta aims to support the creative community and create a platform for emerging talent, as well as showcase the House’s mission to impact communities and the world at large through more than just fashion. The next stage will take place in Tokyo later this month before heading to San Francisco, Shanghai and Sao Paulo.
